I made bread! There's one myth busted
I remember making bread at school and having some excellent results but a) it wasn’t Gluten Free and b) I had a very good teacher who would spot someone doing something wrong from the other side of the room.
But baking Gluten free bread has filled me with dread for far too long. Where did this fear come from? Yes I’d eaten some pretty awful bread and a lot of loaves seem to have giant holes in them, so may be I just didn’t feel it was worth the effort?
Until this recipe!…

I’ve used Doves farm since my diagnosis in 2014, it’s the easiest flour to find in the shops and has a fairly big range. But I’d never spotted the recipes on the back of the packaging! I thought I’d shake off my fears for baking bread and give it a go.
I don’t have a proving drawer… so I made a make shift one, consisting of a cake box and a hot water bottle.. to my surprise it worked! although slowly.
No kneading required with this recipe either, perhaps because kneading encourages the formation of gluten, which of course isn’t going to happen with gluten free bread.
I watched it puff up (and perhaps explode, not sure the grand canyon across the top is right for bread, I’m sure it’s a result of not doing something right, where’s my old school teacher when I need her?!) in the oven with great excitement and it tasted Amazing!
Definitely one to be eaten warmed up with melted butter on top, YUM.
Inspired to try other bread recipes now, anyone had success with Psyllium Husk powder? This is next on my list to try!
